The unintended expat blogger behind Serene Horizon Field

Hey, I'm Lucia
I work as a project manager. I'm a parent and an expatriate living in Madrid, Spain.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Began
Moving to Spain wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something bigger than expected.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed harder than they ought to be.
The Adaptation Phase
There was cultural adjustment, some uncertainty, and plenty of hands-on learning. Gradually, routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began crafting something that felt secure.
Why I Created Serene Horizon Field
Much online information was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism material. What was missing was genuine, everyday family viewpoints.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Spain.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when there is a meaningful change
This site isn't:
- an official tourism authority resource
- a sponsored review platform
- a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Spain goes on, and the learning process continues as well. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll keep documenting what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Lucia
